At GlobalSign I targeted a tech-savvy community while being fully aware that this target group doesn’t respond well to blatant advertising. So I set up an internal incentive scheme at GlobalSign whereby the organisation’s web wizards would be rewarded for (occasionally) posting relevant answers in specialist forums which would then result in traffic spikes and resulting sales. Every organisation likes to be Slashdotted… when for the right reasons.
